Tere Lynn Svetlecich Russell and her daughters have only been to a hair salon once and have locks measuring more than thirteen feet (four metres) between them.
Mother-of-five Tere Lynn has had long hair since she was a toddler, and her impressive mane now measures 74 inches or 1.88 metres.
The 43-year-old admits that her hair gets stuck in car doors or sucked up the vacuum cleaner when she is doing the housework, but says she keeps it the way it is for her husband Chip, 47, who first asked her on a date as a teenager because of her luscious locks.
Tere Lynn’s tresses have helped her to win competitions at fetes and fairs across her home state of Illinois, and her daughters Callan, Cendalyn, Chesney and Chapin are following in their mother’s footsteps.
Her mother Patricia has been the only person to trim her hair since she was born, and Tere Lynn now does the same for her own daughters, although she recently agreed to treat them to a trip to a hair salon where they had conditioning treatments.
They join a large group of women from all over the world who covet their locks – as the pictures below attest.
