Her name is Alyssa Carson and could be the first person to walk the “red planet”. It’s not the only thing that makes her special, there’s also the fact that, as surprising as it is, Alyssa is only 13 years old. Her history, known by NASA and already narrated in media as The Independent or the BBC, is more than impressive. Despite her short age, Carson has accumulated nine years of preparation under her belt and is more than determined to step on Mars in 2033.

BBC released a video explaining in detail how Carson’s preparation is being developed, where this little aspirant to astronaut talks about how it’s so clear for her that space travel is not a whim but a dream that is already prepared to meet. This is corroborated by Paul Foreman, NASA representative, who told this media: “Alyssa is doing well and is receiving appropriate training to get to Mars.”

Similarly Bret, her father, talks on the video about how the family has planned the remaining years until Alyssa travels to Mars: “We may not see her again, as there are options that don’t previse return. Despite that possibility, Alyssa’s not willing to change her mind, “says her father.

She has her own profile in Mars One‘s website, where you can find this description about herself: Hello, my name is Alyssa Carson and at the age of 3 I wanted to fulfill my dream of being an astronaut. I hope to be the first or one of the first on Mars. I would love to go to Mars because it is a planet that no one has been before. It’s about the same size as the Earth and there are ice caps at the top and bottom of Mars. That means there is water on Mars. This could possibly be our next Earth. Just think about all the things that are in Space. For example: planets we have never explored, galaxies that we have never heard of, stars that are just babies, black holes that are as wide as the Sun to Pluto multiple times and has the mass of a billion suns, parts of the universe that we have never seen. Just think of all that stuff just floating around. It’s more than you can imagine.
